Self-portrait Instructions
There is a long history of artists passing on instructions to other artists to create collaborative pieces over great distances. I mailed letters with instructions, different for every artist, usually accompanied by a cyanotype as a gift. The collaborative responses are below. This project is ongoing. If you’d like to collaborate, DM me with your address.

"The client ended up taking an ambien near the end of one of our sessions and became incoherent. I ended up having to babysit and drive the client home to their spouse. It was a test of my patience and tolerance. It was very awkward at the time and even more so when they came to the shop to retrieve their car the next day. I feel somewhat detached from the situation now, as a fair amount of time has passed.. I hope that I don't get pushed that far by a client again."-Professor Chris Hall
"I've attached a self portrait with me in a blue rain jacket that I bought for a trip to Costa Rica in summer 2019 with my girlfriend, her daughter and four of her daughter's friends who were all high school seniors at the time. I'm smiling because I have great memories of that time." Tim McFarlane
"I had walked away from total peace and quiet to pursue an artistic gamble that ultimately neither inspired or motivated me to continue down that path." Brad Stanfill

James Inscho
Tim Gonzalez
"In one of my lives, I would be able to transpose visual experiences into written ones. I'd also be an artist who doesn't work in polyptychs." Amanda Michael Harris
